To finish out the section on access covers, I had to do some work on the tunnel cover.  As I am installing the Control Approach pedals with the cable arms sitting inside the tunnel, I need to split the tunnel cover around these cable arms. Thankfully, Paul at Control Approach provided a template (which also acts as a doubler) that made it easy to split the tunnel cover at the correct location with correctly sized cutouts. After marking the center line of the cable arms in the neutral position, these marks were transferred over to the tunnel cover, and the template was used to mark cutout lines. I made a start on rudder pedal installation while there is still easy access to the forward cabin area. I had previously documented assembling my Control Approach rudder pedal kit, so pulled those out of storage and jumped ahead to section 38. Skipping over the instructions that have you assemble the Van's stock rudder pedals, I started by drilling the Delrin support blocks that will hold the rudder pedals on each side of the cabin. Using the bearing block mount plate as a guide, I drilled #12 holes into each bearing block about 1/8" deep (it doesn't take much drill pressure to drill into the Delrin!), and then moved to the drill press to finish drilling the holes all the way through to #10. While I had some free time, I decided to put together the Control Approach rudder pedals that I had purchased and received at the start of the year.  Paul at Control Approach does offer fully assembled pedals for purchase, and I believe that may be the default option when purchasing a set today, but when I ordered in January I decided to save a few bucks and assemble them myself.  I am also using Beringer brakes and wheels, so I had to incorporate attaching the master cylinders to the rudder pedal assembly, along with the correct fittings.
